Apart from the natural beauty, Ubatuba also guards a significant piece of Brazilian history, a place to visit which alludes to a past of prosperity and glory of a city which once housed the most important port in the country. The Port House is the only mansion which remains from the golden era of coffee, in the second half of the 19th century in Ubatuba.

Open to visitors, the Port House offers an area for art exhibitions, handicrafts, photography, as well as cultural workshops, courses and competitions which encourage artistic production, the appreciation of the Caiçara culture and its traditions.

A restoration project was recently approved for the building, which is considered the main historial patrimony of Ubatuba. The Port House is located at No. 38 Anchieta Square, at the start of Rua Balthazar Fortes, in the centre of the city.
