The Tamar Project in Ubatuba is an unmissable attraction for those who love sealife and mainly for children, who are enchanted by the turtles. There are five observation tanks for marine turtles and a further five areas with land turtles and fresh water.<\/p>\n[rev_slider tamar-project]\n

Inaugurated in 1991, Ubatuba was the first base created by the Tamar Project for the care of marine turtles on the Brazilian coast. It is the only one in the state and one of the most important, alongside Fernando de Noronha and Praia do Forte.<\/p>\n

The Ubatuba Visitors’ Center occupies an area of more than 2,500 m2 and receives on average 100,000 people per annum. It boasts a comprehensive infrastructure of environmental education, information and recreation, including tanks and aquariums, an auditorium seating 30 people, exhibition area, shop and cafe.<\/p>\n

There is also the Cai\u00e7ara Museum<\/strong>, a cultural space created with the intent of rescuing and appreciating the rich Cai\u00e7ara tradition, remembering the habits and customs of an era which formed part of the development of Brazilian society. Through more than 200 ancient pieces, interpretative panels, photos and historical objects, the visitor has the opportunity to “travel back in time” to see a little glimpse of Brazilian culture. The museum also tries to maintain the Cai\u00e7ara culture, through artistic and cultural acts in the exhibition area and Visitors’ Center.<\/p>\n

Sunday to Thursday – 10:00 until 18:00
Friday, Saturday, Bank and school holidays – 10:00 until 20:00.
